This pretty calcareous alga resembles a pinecone and its root-like structure is a large bulb with rhizoids that secure it to the substrate. Its short, about 6 inch high growths form clusters and require bright light, gentle currents, and slightly above natural calcium and alkalinity levels to keep it looking its best.
